About Us

Company Profile

Ephicas is a spin-off company of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the TU Delft. The company creates innovative aerodynamic solutions for trailers, trucks and buses, all of which have an enormous effect on fuel economy and contribute to a better environment. Ephicas’ headquarters is located in the YES!Delft incubator. The company has received several European awards with its unique patented technology and ambitious business plan. It focuses on the development and commercialization of innovative aerodynamic products that have been thoroughly tested and that can make a huge difference – both economically and environmentally – for the global transport industry.

Hessel Jongebreur - Chief Executive Officer

General management, marketing and sales

Hessel has over 12 years of entrepreneurial experience in a variety of industries. For eight years, he was director/owner of a technical start-up company. Hessel is a member of the board of YES!Delft and is adviser to several start-up companies.

Gandert Van Raemdonck - Chief Technical Officer

Research and development

Gandert is a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the TU Delft. His research concerns aerodynamic flow behaviour around tractors and trailers. Gandert is the inventor of the Ephicas SideWing. During his studies, he was technical manager of the DUTRacing team. He remains a member of the team’s technical advisory board.

Hjalmar Van Raemdonck - Chief Operations Officer

Operations and structural design

Hjalmar also studied Aerospace Engineering at the TU Delft and specializes in the production and design of composite materials. He designed the Ephicas SideWing. Hjalmar was on the board (structural design) of the Nuon Solar Team in 2007, winning the World Solar Challenge in Australia. He is still in the advisory board of the Nuon Solar team.

Advisors

Michel van Tooren

Prof.dr.ir. Michel van Tooren is head of the multi-disciplinary Master Track: Design, Integration and Operations of Aircraft and Rotorcraft at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the TU Delft. He is also involved in several spin-off companies from the TU Delft.

Ludo van Halderen

Ludo van Halderen was Chairman of the Management Board of N.V. Nuon until April 2008. He is also a member of the supervisory board of the Energy research centre Netherlands. His extensive management experience and energy knowledge is an important contribution for the Ephicas team.

Jan Salomons

Jan Salomons is Global Manager Operations Excellence Development at TNT Express. His previous positions at TNT were International Road Network Manager and Global Quality Manager. His extensive experience in the transport industry is essential for the Ephicas team.

Loek Boermans

Ir. Loek Boermans is Associate Professor at the Low Speed Aerodynamics Laboratory at the TU Delft and is a specialist in subsonic aerodynamics, aerodynamic design of road vehicles and high performance sailplanes. He is also responsible for the aerodynamic design of several production type high-performance sailplanes and motor planes and is president of OSTIV.
